I first became interested in genealogy when I stumbled across the website of the Levasseur Association of America at levasseur.org. I was fascinated to find that one line of my genealogy had already been traced back to the beginnings of New France.
My 7th great-grandfather, Pierre Levasseur dit Espérance (born in St-Leu-et-St-Gilles, Paris,France) was an early settler of New France.
Several of my ancestors were artisans who were active in designing churches throughout Quebec. One in particular was Pierre-Noël Levasseur, whose work includes the altar of the Ursuline Chapel in Quebec City.
